2015 Floyd Hill Garden Tour
Saturday July 25
10:45 to 1:00 p.m.
We had a beautiful day for the Garden Tour and such an enthusiastic group.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to Carolyn, Robin, Gloria, Maureen, and Louise for sharing your gardening talents with us beginners! We hope you will want to continue sharing garden knowledge and clippings with each other in future gatherings! Your hospitality was way above expectations.
Thank you ever so much!
The tour included the following gardens:
Gloria Newman, 1050 Hy Vu: See terraced gardens as well as colorful deck flowers.
Mareen DeJongh @ 1255 Hy Vu: has concentrated on natural, deer-resistant, drought resistant, low maintenance perennials, mostly in full sun. This is a work in progress!
Carolyn Ward @ 55 Meadow View Drive: She has collected specimens of native plants which thrive in her shaded terraced backyard.
Robin Wallace @ 586 Hyland Drive: She has gotten starter plants and advice from her neighbor, Carolyn, and is transforming her wild yard with native plants which add color, texture, and interest. She continues to grow vegetables and flowers in a small enclosed area.
Louise Heern @ 1331 Saddle Ridge Drive: This enormous and diverse garden gets full sun. It is protected from deer by a wooden fence. Louise is a Master Gardener and has studied hard to find species which will thrive on her eastern-facing terraced “backyard”. She is determined to control voles on her property. This is an oasis on Floyd Hill!
