Chipper Weekend 2010

   August 20 -21

Some really enormous piles of logs and brush were picked up at 51 residences on Floyd Hill, SaddleBack and Beaver Brook.

There is no doubt that more wood and brush was chipped this weekend than ever before. An amazingly organized and seasoned crew helped leaders Josh Lewis and Keith Briggs get the work done in two eight-hour days. Many hands make this giant task possible.

Thanks to all the neighbors who cut trees and hauled slash to the roadside for pickup, making our mountain a safer place from fire danger.

Our local heroes are the dedicated workers who toiled on the chipper crew with lots of sore muscles, but no injuries: Keith, Josh, Chip, Steve, Tom, Stacey, Dave, Holly, Lou (x 2), Autumn, Dawn, Mark, Paul, Glen, Fran, Linda, and Dick, plus countless homeowners who helped with their own piles. Without such a dedicated group of volunteers such an outstanding event could not happen.

Kudos and hats off to all who made this the most productive chipper weekend ever! The Floyd Homeowners Association provided water and pop and breakfast, and lunches to fuel the BEST CHIPPER CREW west of the Mississippi.

WHAT A TEAM EFFORT!
