A team of 9 Floyd Hill residents spent 2 hours
picking up
20 bags of trash
along highway U.S.
40 Saturday morning (May 21st) for the Floyd Hill Area Property Owners'
Association. We will do this again on Saturday September 10th.
A great big
THANKS
goes to
Mike
Cheverria
for organizing this
event and for a nice relaxing lunch afterward at his and
Joyce's lovely
home on Aspen Drive.
THANKS
also
goes to I-Da, Yu-Ching, Louise, Randy, Steve,
Holly, and Linda for cleaning up
what had escaped from
cars and the wind had spread around the area.
We found some unusual
things in addition to the beer bottles and cans, the drink cups, and
cigarette butts you'd expect to find. We found Skoll cans, barbed wire,
license plates and car parts, diapers, chains, tarps, Players cards, but
probably the most unusual thing was a pair of underwear! We worry about
passers by throwing out
lighted cigarette butts
during times of high fire danger. Their careless, dangerous act could start
a fire that could destroy our homes!
This neighborhood litter pick-up was a very worthwhile project! Area
residents will notice the difference! Once the wind died down, it was a
beautiful morning to be outside in the sunshine! We hope more of our
neighbors will join in this effort
next Fall! (See
pictures below).
