Floyd Hill Area Property Owners’ Association Meeting Minutes

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Time: 7:00 pm

Location: Clear Creek Fire Authority Station

U.S. Highway 40

Presentation:

7:00 Jeff DeDisse and Jeff DiPaolo from the Evergreen Fire Protection District presented information on fire safety measures.  Although this year's current fire danger is low, it is still wise to plan for an emergency.  Here are a few things you can do/remember:

·         Mitigate and create defensible space around your property.

·         Do not store firewood under the deck.

·         If there is a fire and you need to leave your home, remember to grab the three P's: pills, pets & personal belongings.  Then leave and leave your doors unlocked and garage doors closed.

·         There are fire resistant plants that can be planted on your property.

·         Clear Creek County Animal Control can be called if your pet is at home alone and there is a fire.

·         Jeff DiPaolo, a Community Education Fire Inspector can come to your home for a safety review - 303-674-3145.

·         Residents will get a reverse 911 call to their home number, or can register on the following site to receive a reverse 911 to cell phones:  http://co.jefferson.co.us/sheriff/sheriff_T62_R259.htm

Questions arose about neighbors who aren't clearing dead trees on their property.  New laws were passed that allow HOAs to take action.  There may be grant funding to support this initiative.  Pat Creek Road is being considered as an egress during a fire to allow residents a way to escape emergencies here on the hill if there is a fire or an emergency that shuts down the I-70 overpass bridge.  Jim White presented the idea to have a neighborhood "fire drill."

  • May 20th neighbors met at CC Recreation center to review playground plans.  Cost savings of about $15K if neighbors help assemble.  Matt Robie will be making final decisions, next colors will be decided.

Road Safe Driving:  Kris Lee is going to work with Evergreen/Conifer DRIVE SMART organization to promote program.

Emergency Notification: tested with notification for FHAPOA meeting.  If you did not receive a notification for the meeting, please contact us.

Development Committee:  Jim White

  • DOLA grant funding, $150k, focus groups of how hill might develop.  Consolidate focus group ideas.  Market research was conducted.  All input was put together in November, nothing happened.   Suggested changes now made - only 10-15% of suggested changes were incorporated.  Turnout needed for next meeting - which will show how interested the neighborhood is.  Residents need to be heard about the desire for open space and not urban growth - turn out will be important.

Executive summary of the report shows low income, apartment housing.  There will be development - but trying to avoid a 5th city.
