Floyd Hill Area Property Owners’ Association Meeting Minutes

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Time: 7:00 pm

Location: Clear Creek Fire Authority Station

U.S. Highway 40

Guest Speaker:  Sheriff Krueger & Detective Woolf

Ask the Sheriff

Many questions were presented to and answered by Sheriff Krueger & Detective Wolff.

Q:  What is important to a Neighborhood Watch program?

A:  Communication is key.  If you see strange things, or cars, write down the plate number and call the Sheriff’s office.  “This is probably nothing, but….” usually turns into something.  A Neighborhood Watch program will be incorporated into the FHAPOA by Linda Berteau and launched at the picnic – this will include new street signs – and support from the Sheriff’s office.

Q:  What are the gun control laws on Floyd Hill?

A:  Safety is key.  With a proper license, vest and hat, you can hunt on your property.  Trap shooting is not illegal, but littering is.  Hunting on private property is not illegal if you have permission.  With a proper license you can carry a weapon.

Q:  How do we better implement a safe driving campaign?

A:  No proven method, but to educate.  If there are issues, you can get a license plate # and call the sheriff’s office.  The radar trailer can also be installed to help show drivers how fast they are driving.

Q:  What are the noise laws around dogs?

A:    Barking dog ordinance says that at anytime of the day, if two people complain about the same dog, an citation can be issued.  The officer can be the 2nd witness.

Q:  What are the overnight park-n-ride rules at the bottom of the  hill?

A:  Call Sheriff with any complaints.  It’s likely you can park down there over night without getting your car towed away.  Call for abandoned vehicles.

Q:  What can be done if trespassing occurs when a no trespassing sign is posted?

A:   Call the Sheriff who can properly ticket/arrest tresspassers.

Q:  Are ATVs legal on Floyd Hill?

A:  No, not on any county maintained road.  Sheriff can be called for any complaints.
