Committee Reports:

Road Committee:                                                 Report by Josh Lewis

Members of the Road Committee met with the Clear Creek County Commissioners (Harry Dale, and re-elected Kevin O’Mally and Joan Drury) on Wednesday October 1st at 2:00 pm in Georgetown and on November 5th after conferring with Public Works Director, Tim Allen.  A letter was presented outlining the Committee’s expectations and itemized wish list to chip/seal roads, to unblock culverts and clean ditches, to grade roads for erosion control, to minimize high berms, to patch potholes, to control dust, and to address other safety issues.  The County Roads Department promised to contact the Committee by February 1st with a timeline describing what road projects will and will not be accomplished on Floyd Hill in 2009 and 2010.

Playground Committee:                                           Report by Linda Berteau

The GOCO grant request should be announced within the next 2 weeks.

Emergency Notification Committee:                    No report

Development Committee:                                        Report by Linda Berteau         Amendment 50 passed in November.  This amendment allows Central City and Black Hawk to increase wagers on a single bet from $5 to $100.  The games of roulette and craps may be added and casino hours may be extended past 2:00 am.  The additional revenues from this expansion of gambling in Black Hawk could generate monies to fund the “Silver Tunnel” from Black Hawk to I-70.  If constructed, this highway is expected to build its acceleration lane connecting the new Highway to I-70 going eastbound at the Floyd Hill interchange.  Thus, construction, and traffic could change the character of the base of Floyd Hill considerably.  The Development Committee will continue to monitor efforts to construct a connecting road from Black Hawk to

I-70.

Water Response Committee:                                   Report by Jim White

            No report.

Activities Committee:                                                 Report by Josh Lewis

32 households participated in the fall chipper weekend.

Neighborhood Roadway Safety Committee:      Report by Linda Berteau

Kris Lee purchased a “BE AWARE, DRIVE WITH CARE” sign to be posted at the base of Floyd Hill as a reminder to motorists to drive safely and courteously on Hill roads.  The County Roads Department has approved displaying this permanent sign at the T of Beaver Brook and Hyland Drive.  Kris has 5 portable yard signs and 10 trashcan decals that say “BE AWARE, DRIVE WITH CARE”.  The cost was $201.  Kris needs more volunteers to help with this Committee.  Contact her at kriskinzli@yahoo.com.

Old Business:

New Business:

A reminder was made by Linda Berteau that orders must be placed by February for the 4-H bare root or potted TREE OR SHRUB SEEDLINGS program.  Representatives from Floyd Hill will pick up seedling orders at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds and deliver them to FHAPOA members who ordered them.  These trees are to replace trees killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle.  Contact Linda Berteau at 303-679-3025 or musicats420@ecentral.com for selection and prices.

A Clear Creek METRO RECREATIONAL DISTRICT SURVEY was distributed for all present to complete and return. The County Recreational District is seeking local residents’ assessment of usage of Clear Creek County recreational facilities and activities, and information to help them to assess and plan for future needs.

FHAPOA officers are working on a list of accomplishments of the FHAPOA in 2008 to be mailed to all Floyd Hill residents in January requesting payment of 2009 dues.  A 2009 budget and goals for 2009 are being compiled.

Closure and Next Meeting:

The next FHAPOA meeting will be scheduled for Thursday, January 22nd at the Fire Station on U.S. Route 40.  Jim White motioned to close the meeting and Paul Berteau seconded the motion.  Josh Lewis adjourned the business meeting at approximately 6:00 pm and the FHAPOA holiday party/potluck resumed.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda G. Berteau,

FHAPOA Secretary
